India's Exploration of Critical Minerals for Nuclear and Strategic Sectors

The Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), under India's Department of Atomic Energy, is actively exploring and enhancing the country’s reserves of critical minerals such as niobium, tantalum, beryllium, and rare earths among others. These minerals are essential for India's nuclear energy and strategic sectors. AMD is implementing integrated and multi-disciplinary strategies to explore these minerals across several states. Meanwhile, IREL (India) Limited, a PSU under the Department, is working on mining and processing these vital elements to boost internal supplies.
