India's Food Processing Gets a Boost with PLI Scheme

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the Food Processing Industry, launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, is enhancing India's food processing sector. Running from FY 2021-22 to FY 2026-27 with a ₹10,900 crore budget, it boosts value addition, capacity, and employment, especially in rural industries. Focusing on major food segments like Ready to Cook/Ready to Eat products and innovative SME products, it also supports millet usage and marketing abroad. Significant investments have exceeded expectations, contributing to job creation and revenue growth. The scheme fortifies domestic efforts and promotes Indian brands globally.
