India's Government Releases Rs 37,000 Crore for Power Infrastructure

The Government of India has released Rs 37,000 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to improve the quality and reliability of power supply. This release forms 38% of the total sanctioned budget for the scheme. The distribution sector must meet specific milestones to receive funds. As of December 4, 2025, there are no pending claims from any state regarding distribution infrastructure works with the Ministry of Power. Fiscal years 2023-2026 have seen substantial fund releases state-wise under the RDSS, with Uttar Pradesh receiving the highest cumulative funds.
