India's Healthcare Workforce Exceeds WHO Standards

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that India has 13,88,185 registered allopathic doctors and 7,51,768 AYUSH practitioners. The country's doctor-population ratio stands at 1:811, surpassing the WHO standard of 1:1000. Additionally, there are 39.40 lakh nurses with a nurse-population ratio of 2.23 per 1000, supported by over 5300 nursing institutions nationwide. The government is committed to enhancing public healthcare systems through financial and technical support under the National Health Mission.
