The Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, held a Round Table Conference on Time Dissemination, emphasizing the importance of synchronizing all legal, commercial, and administrative activities with Indian Standard Time (IST). Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi highlighted the upcoming Legal Metrology (IST) Rules, 2025, which will ensure precise dissemination of IST across various sectors, enhancing national security and operational efficiency. The initiative aims to establish five Regional Reference Standard Laboratories equipped with atomic clocks to provide accurate timekeeping, reducing dependency on foreign time sources and fostering technological independence.
