India's Livestock Sector Highlights Growth in 2025 Report
On the occasion of National Milk Day 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying released the 'Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025', highlighting significant growth in the livestock and dairy sectors. The report, based on data from the Integrated Sample Survey from March 2024 to February 2025, showcases India's global leadership in milk and egg production, ranking first and second respectively. Milk production reached 247.87 million tonnes, a 3.58% increase from the previous year, with top contributions from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Egg production saw a 4.44% growth, totaling 149.11 billion, with Andhra Pradesh leading the output. Meat and wool production also recorded significant growth, positioning India as a major player globally. These statistics aid in policy formulation and international comparisons, crucial for the sector's sustainable growth.
