The Ministry of Earth Sciences, under the Deep Ocean Mission, is developing technology to harvest polymetallic nodules from depths of 5500 m. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has installed 15 unmanned H-AWOS at various heliports to enhance weather data dissemination, despite the lack of automatic warning systems at these locations. IMD has improved weather forecasting and warning services and developed mobile apps like MAUSAM, MEGHDOOT, and DAMINI for better accessibility. They also generate CAP alerts for severe weather, disseminating through various platforms and have APIs for widespread sharing of weather forecasts.
