India's National Hydrogen Mission to Spur Renewable Energy Growth
The Government of India is advancing its renewable energy initiatives through the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), with a substantial budget of ₹19,744 crore. Aimed at establishing India as a global hub for green hydrogen production, usage, and export, the mission has seen significant developments by November 2025. Incentive schemes have awarded 18 companies for a total green hydrogen production capacity of 8,62,000 tonnes annually, and 15 companies for manufacturing electrolysers at 3,000 MW per annum. To integrate green hydrogen into various sectors, pilot projects have been sanctioned for steel, shipping, and transport industries. Additionally, various missions like PMSG: MBY and PM KUSUM are fostering solar energy adoption, especially in rural areas, through financial assistance. Reinforced monitoring and coordination are in place to meet India's 2030 renewable energy goals, with real-time data analytics and consistent inter-ministerial reviews bolstering project execution across solar, wind, and bio energy endeavors.
