India's Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework Enhances Scheme Accountability

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has detailed the Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework (OOMF) which serves as the performance monitoring tool for government schemes in India. Coordinated by NITI Aayog's Development Monitoring & Evaluation Office, the framework helps ministries track and report on the success of schemes with budgets of Rs. 500 Crore or more. This is presented in Parliament alongside the Union Budget. Schemes with lower budget allocations also submit detailed reports. This approach aids in refining implementation strategies based on performance indicators and evaluation recommendations, as highlighted by Minister Rao Inderjit Singh's statement in the Rajya Sabha.
