India's Post Offices Embrace Digital Transformation

The Department of Posts (DoP) in India has launched the Advanced Postal Technology (APT), a cloud-based digital platform as part of its IT Modernization Project 2.0. APT, developed by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology, connects around 1.7 lakh post offices across 23 postal circles nationwide. In addition, all postmen and Grameen Dak Sevaks have been equipped with smartphones and biometric devices to provide doorstep banking services. The India Post Payments Bank has expanded its financial services to include account opening, insurance, and Aadhaar services, thereby enhancing service delivery across India, especially in rural areas.
