India's Power Sector Advances Cybersecurity Measures

The Ministry of Power in India, collaborating with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, has established a Centre of Excellence for Cybersecurity to enhance the protection of the power grid. With guidelines set by the Central Electricity Authority to create a secure power ecosystem, upcoming regulations aim to fortify the digital infrastructure of the sector. The Ministry's Computer Security Incident Response Team - Power (CSIRT-Power) assists utilities in cybersecurity preparedness, alongside six sub-sectoral CERTs. No cyber-security breaches were reported in the past five years at the National Load Despatch Centre, demonstrating the efficacy of their preventive measures.
