India's PRASHAD Scheme Aims to Revitalize Pilgrimage Destinations
The Ministry of Tourism in India has launched the 'National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive' (PRASHAD), with the goal of developing infrastructure at identified pilgrimage and heritage sites across the country. The scheme provides financial assistance to state governments and UT administrations for this purpose. The Ministry also offers training for tourism service providers to enhance visitor experiences. Each state or UT formulates a Detailed Project Report to ensure projects are sustainable and preserve the spiritual integrity of the sites. This initiative aims to improve tourist convenience and accessibility while boosting local employment opportunities. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat shared these details in a Rajya Sabha session.
