India's Renewable Energy Ambitions Highlighted at IRENA Assembly
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi represented India at the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency in Abu Dhabi, highlighting India's commitment to a sustainable energy transition guided by the principle of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'. India aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030 and reach Net Zero emissions by 2070, with current renewable energy capacity surpassing 266 GW. Joshi emphasized India's focus on reliable power systems, clean energy investments, and international cooperation to drive a global renewable energy transition. India also plans to empower households and farmers through various flagship programs like PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and PM-KUSUM scheme. The discussions with UAE officials aimed at strengthening climate action and clean energy partnership, underpinning a unified approach towards global energy sustainability.
