India's Rs.69,725 Crore Package to Boost Shipbuilding and Maritime Sector
The Indian Cabinet has approved a comprehensive Rs.69,725 crore package aimed at revitalizing the shipbuilding and maritime sector through a four-pillar approach. This includes extending the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme until 2036, establishing a Maritime Development Fund, and implementing the Shipbuilding Development Scheme to enhance domestic capacity to 4.5 million Gross Tonnage. The initiative is expected to create 30 lakh jobs and attract Rs.4.5 lakh crore in investments, reinforcing India's strategic self-reliance and enhancing national security.
