India's Satellite Reforms Boost Private Sector Participation
The Indian Department of Telecommunications has implemented the Satellite Communication Reforms-2022 to promote ease-of-doing-business in the space sector by streamlining processes and rationalizing charges. These reforms, along with Space Sector reforms launched in 2020, allow for greater participation of Non-Governmental Entities (NGEs) in satellite systems. The initiative is supported by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), which offers various supportive measures including a seed fund scheme and skill development programs. These efforts aim to strengthen India's technological self-reliance and the space sector infrastructure.
