India's Solar Energy Future: NCPRE's Breakthrough in Tandem Solar Cells

Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi highlighted the National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education's (NCPRE) advancements in high-efficiency, low-cost Silicon-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells during his visit to IIT Bombay. With over Rs 200 crore funding from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) over 15 years, NCPRE aims to support India's 100 GW solar mission. The recent development of a 2-Terminal Monolithic Silicon/CdTe-Perovskite tandem solar cell with a conversion efficiency of 29.8% marks a significant milestone for India, positioning the country as a leader in next-gen photovoltaics and clean energy innovation.
