India's Strategic Independence in Rare Earth Minerals Production

India has taken significant strides in reducing its dependence on China for rare earth minerals by leveraging its own resources and enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities. Through initiatives by IREL (India) Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy, the country has established facilities for the integrated mining, processing, and recycling of rare earth elements contained in monazite from Beach Sand Minerals. Recent government schemes are further aimed at expanding production capacities, fostering technological development, and reducing import reliance in critical sectors such as electric mobility and renewable energy.
