India's Strategic Plans to Boost Uranium Resources Revealed
The Department of Atomic Energy, through its Atomic Minerals Directorate (AMD), is actively working on enhancing India's domestic uranium resources to ensure a steady supply chain. The Directorate has embarked on a comprehensive five-year action plan (2024-29), involving multi-disciplinary exploration across various geological domains in the country. This initiative, which spans 14 states, aims to identify and develop new uranium sites. The current achievements fall short of the ambitious targets set for surveys and drilling, but AMD has already established 436,700 tonnes of in-situ U3O8 across 47 deposits.
