India's Sugarcane Production on a Continuous Rise

The sugarcane production in India has shown a steady increase over the past five years, except for a slight decline in 2023-24. The production rose from 4053.99 lakh tonnes in 2020-21 to 4546.11 lakh tonnes in 2024-25 and is estimated to reach 4756.14 lakh tonnes in 2025-26. The Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane has also increased, reaching ₹355 per quintal for the 2025-26 season. Government interventions, such as timely policy declarations and support for ethanol production and sugar exports, have facilitated prompt payments to farmers.
