India's Sustainable Fishing Efforts to Combat Juvenile Fishing

India is taking significant strides in sustainable fishing practices by implementing Minimum Legal Sizes (MLS) for certain fish stocks, including Silver Pomfret, to prevent juvenile fishing and enhance conservation efforts. The government has declared specific regulations to protect fish stocks, such as a 61-day annual fishing ban and restrictions on mechanized boats in traditional fishing zones. These initiatives align with the advisories from the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute to ensure about 91.1% of India's marine fish stocks remain healthy.
