India's Textile and Apparel Exports Surge Amid Global Challenges

India's textile and apparel exports, including handicrafts, have grown significantly from Rs. 2,33,304.0 crore in 2020–21 to Rs. 3,19,573.2 crore in 2024–25, despite global challenges. The increase represents a compound annual growth rate of 8.2%. The Government has been implementing various initiatives to enhance the sector's competitiveness, such as the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks Scheme and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. Additionally, the National Handloom Development Programme and others provide support to the handloom and handicraft sectors across various states including Telangana, North East, and Gujarat.
