India's Textile Industry Embraces Sustainable Practices

The Ministry of Textiles has outlined initiatives to encourage environmentally sustainable production in the textile industry, including the formation of an Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Task Force, the promotion of energy-efficient machines, and pilot projects aimed at reducing the industry's carbon footprint. The efforts are designed to enhance global competitiveness, improve market access, and foster investor confidence. Additionally, research and development projects under the National Technical Textiles Mission are promoting sustainable technologies and materials. The Hon’ble Finance Minister also announced a new initiative, the Tex-Eco Initiative, in the latest budget to further strengthen sustainable textile production.
