India's Textile Ministry Launches GREAT Scheme for Technical Textiles Startups

The Ministry of Textiles in India has unveiled the "Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT)" guidelines under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM). This initiative aims to bolster the startup ecosystem in the technical textiles sector by supporting young innovators and entrepreneurs. Each approved proposal under the GREAT scheme is eligible for funding up to Rs. 50 lakh, with the government covering a significant share of the costs. So far, 24 startups have been approved, encompassing a diverse range of technologies from temperature-responsive textiles to algae-based leather alternatives.
