India's Tourism Ministry Enhances Efforts to Attract Foreign Tourists

The Ministry of Tourism of India is amplifying its strategies to attract foreign tourists by revamping existing schemes and introducing new initiatives. The Ministry has launched the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) and Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) schemes to support state and union territories in developing tourism infrastructure. A total of 53 projects amounting to Rs. 2208.27 Crore have been sanctioned under SD2.0, with another 36 projects under CBDD. Other initiatives include promoting India as a tourist destination through the Incredible India Digital Portal, providing resources for industry stakeholders, and enhancing tourist experiences through training and certification programs. E-visa facilities are now available for 171 countries, and efforts are being made to improve air connectivity under the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
