India's Water and Sanitation Program Yields Remarkable Progress

The Government of India's initiatives under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission have significantly improved water and sanitation access in rural areas. Since the Jal Jeevan Mission's launch in 2019, tap water connections have been provided to over 12.58 Crore additional rural households. The Swachh Bharat Mission has also accomplished substantial results with over 10 Crore household latrines constructed, making most rural areas Open Defecation Free. The programs combined address clean water access and sanitation needs with ongoing efforts and funding pledged for continuous improvement.
