Inter-Linking of Rivers Initiative by Government of India
The Government of India has launched a National Perspective Plan (NPP) for the Inter-Linking of Rivers (ILR) to transfer water from surplus to deficit areas. The National Water Development Agency (NWDA) is overseeing 30 identified ILR projects, including the Ken-Betwa Link Project (KBLP), which is currently under implementation. The initiative aims to mitigate floods and droughts by redistributing water resources and includes a Flood Management Programme (FMP) to support state-level flood management efforts.
