ISRO Extends Use of Space-Based Systems in Key National Sectors
ISRO has significantly expanded the use of space-based systems across multiple sectors in India to enhance agriculture, disaster management, climate monitoring, and societal welfare. The organization completed its leadership tenure in the International Charter ‘Space and Major Disasters’, executing 39 activations for disaster management globally. Efforts include using satellite data for crop yield estimates, flood forecasting, and air quality monitoring. Further steps to improve data accessibility under the Indian Space Policy-2023 have been initiated, with more than 300 consultations held with governmental departments to optimize space technology applications.
