Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0: Funds Released to Five States for FY 2025-26

The Union Cabinet has approved Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, transitioning the mission from an infrastructure-centric model to a service delivery approach, focusing on structural reforms, accountability, and sustainable water services across rural India. Following compliance with mandatory conditions including signing MoUs and technical standards, ₹1,561.53 crore has been released to five states—Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh—for FY 2025-26. This initiative aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, aiming to provide all rural households with reliable tap water by December 2028.
