Jal Jeevan Mission Drives Significant Progress Towards Ensuring Tap Water for All Rural Households by 2028

Since its inception in August 2019, India's Jal Jeevan Mission has provided tap water connections to more than 15.79 crore rural households. The mission, with an estimated outlay of Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore, is targeted for completion by December 2028. It aims to make potable water accessible to all rural households and is executed in collaboration with various local bodies who manage and maintain the water supply systems. Transparency and community participation are encouraged through various supplementary programs and digital platforms.
