Jal Jeevan Mission Extended to 2028 for Improved Water Supply in Drought-Prone Rajasthan
The Government of India, in collaboration with State and Union Territory governments, has been implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) since August 2019. This significant initiative, extended until 2028, aims to provide tap water connections to every rural household in India, including drought-affected regions in Rajasthan. The mission, focusing on infrastructure quality and long-term sustainability, also emphasizes prioritizing difficult terrains and drought-prone areas in the fund allocation process. Continuous efforts including capacity-building workshops, regular policy reviews, and comprehensive technical support are in place to ensure the successful execution of the mission. Moreover, technological aids like the JJM Integrated Management Information System and Dashboard have been installed to facilitate transparent monitoring and financial management.
