Japan Coast Guard Ship ‘Itsukushima’ Strengthens India-Japan Maritime Ties

The Japan Coast Guard Ship Itsukushima, commanded by Captain Naoki Mizoguchi, arrived in Chennai on July 7, 2025, as part of its Global Ocean Voyage Training. This visit aims to reinforce the strategic partnership between the Indian Coast Guard and Japan Coast Guard, featuring high-level meetings, cultural exchanges, and a joint sea exercise. Four Indian Coast Guard officers will also sail to Singapore as part of ongoing professional exchanges, building on a 2006 cooperation agreement.
