Jigyasa Programme Empowers Over 14 Lakh Students in India with Scientific Exposure

Dr. Jitendra Singh addressed the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the achievements of the "Jigyasa" programme, an initiative by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to promote scientific curiosity and learning among school children. Launched in 2017, this programme has benefitted over 14 lakh students and 80,000 teachers across India. It includes activities like visits to CSIR labs, workshops, and hackathons, allowing students hands-on learning experiences. The programme also features the "Jigyasa Virtual Lab" in collaboration with IIT Bombay, offering digital content accessible to remote and disabled students. With consistent government funding and collaborations with other educational and scientific bodies, Jigyasa has become a crucial platform, encouraging students towards careers in science and research.
