Joint Venture Agreement for HAMMER Weapon Production in India
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Safran Electronics & Defence (SED) have signed a Joint Venture Cooperation Agreement (JVCA) to produce the HAMMER Smart Precision Guided Air-to-Ground Weapon in India. This initiative supports the Make-in-India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, aiming for 60% indigenisation in manufacturing. The agreement was signed on November 24, 2025, and will enhance India's defense capabilities by localizing production and maintenance of the weapon system, which is compatible with platforms like Rafale and Tejas.
