Kavach 4.0: Enhancing Train Safety Across Indian Railways
The Ministry of Railways has successfully commissioned the Kavach 4.0 Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system across 738 route kilometers on key sections of the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah routes. This advanced system, first developed and trialed in 2016, offers improved safety through features like automatic braking and enhanced signal information, benefitting both locomotives and passengers. With plans for broader implementation across India’s high-density rail corridors, the railway intends to further enhance safety and train operations with Kavach's latest technology advancements. Funding and training are ongoing, supporting progressive deployment and operator education.
