Keel Laying of Fourth NGOPV at Goa Shipyard

The keel laying ceremony for the fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), Yard 1283, was held on June 9, 2025, at Goa Shipyard Ltd. (GSL). Vice Adm Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, attended the event alongside other senior officials. The construction of 11 NGOPVs is underway, with GSL and GRSE, Kolkata, responsible for seven and four vessels, respectively. These ships, designed for coastal defense, surveillance, and anti-piracy missions, align with India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.
