Key Railway Projects Under Review at 103rd Network Planning Group Meeting

In the 103rd meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) under the PM GatiShakti initiative, three major railway projects were evaluated. These projects, proposed by the Ministry of Railways, aim to improve multimodal connectivity across critical regions. The Barbenda-Damrughutu project involves the construction of additional railway lines between West Bengal and Jharkhand, crucial for freight movement among major industrial hubs. The Jamalpur-Munger project in Bihar will provide a vital link between North and Southeast Bihar, enhancing connectivity and lowering transportation costs. The Santragachi-Panskura-Kharagpur project in West Bengal involves a fourth railway line, addressing congestion and improving freight and passenger movement along a key corridor. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost logistic efficiency, reduce travel times, and deliver socio-economic benefits to the respective regions.
