Khelo India Tribal Games to Debut in Chhattisgarh

The first Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) are set to occur in Chhattisgarh across three cities: Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Sarguja, from March 26 to April 6, 2026. Announced by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the games will include seven medal sports such as athletics and football and feature demonstration sports like mallakhamb and kabaddi. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of empowering India through sports by 2024, focusing on integrating talent from tribal areas into the national sports framework. The mascot ‘Morveer’ symbolizes Chhattisgarh’s cultural values, emphasizing the spirit and pride of India’s tribal communities.
