KVS and NVS Driving Educational Equity in India

As of October 2025, India has 1,290 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 662 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), with plans for further expansion. The government has approved the establishment of 57 new KVs and 28 new NVS, with significant funding allocated to enhance educational infrastructure and technology. Both KVS and NVS aim to provide equitable education, focusing on urban and rural needs respectively, and have been upgraded under the PM SHRI scheme to serve as model institutions in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
