Launch of 17 New Fisheries Clusters on National Fish Farmer Day 2025

On July 10, 2025, Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh launched 17 new fisheries clusters during the National Fish Farmers Day celebration at ICAR-CIFA, Odisha. This initiative aims to enhance the fisheries sector under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), increasing the total number of clusters to 34. The event also included the inauguration of 70 projects worth ₹105 crore, aimed at improving production, productivity, and livelihoods for over 3 crore fishers and fish farmers in India. The government emphasized the importance of cluster development and technology adoption to achieve sustainable growth in the fisheries sector.
