Launch of Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025 Highlights India's Dairy and Livestock Growth on National Milk Day
On November 26, 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying released the 'Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025' at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, coinciding with National Milk Day. The report is based on the Integrated Sample Survey from March 2024 to February 2025 and provides comprehensive data on livestock and dairy trends in India. It reveals India as the leading global producer of milk with a production of 247.87 million tonnes in 2024-25, marking a growth of 3.58% from the previous year. Similarly, India holds the second position in global egg production, contributing 149.11 billion eggs with a growth rate of 4.44%. In meat production, India ranks fourth globally with a total production of 10.50 million tonnes, and wool production increased to 34.57 million kg. The report's data supports evidence-based policy-making and helps in evaluating the performance of governmental initiatives in the livestock sector.
