The India Meteorological Department adopted the Bharat Forecast System (BharatFS) on May 26, 2025, aimed at enhancing extreme weather prediction accuracy at the panchayat cluster level. The system operates at a 6 km resolution, significantly improving rainfall prediction accuracy by 30% compared to its predecessor.
