Launch of Indigenous Pollution Control Vessel ‘Samudra Prachet’
The Indian Coast Guard's latest Pollution Control Vessel, ‘Samudra Prachet’, was launched by Goa Shipyard Ltd on July 23, 2025. This vessel, measuring 114.5m in length and 4,170 tons in displacement, is equipped with advanced response equipment to effectively manage oil spills in India's Exclusive Economic Zone. The project supports local industries and MSMEs, contributing to economic growth and employment in Goa. The launch ceremony was attended by key officials, including the Director General of ICG, who emphasized the importance of indigenous shipbuilding in defense production.
