The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is set to launch the National Household Income Survey (NHIS) in February 2026, marking India's first comprehensive survey on household income. A pre-testing exercise was conducted to refine the survey's questionnaire, ensuring clarity and reliability. The NHIS aims to fill a significant data gap in socio-economic statistics, providing insights into living conditions and income patterns across the country. Feedback on the draft schedule is invited from the public until October 30, 2025.
