Launch of Public Charging Infrastructure in India
The Ministry of Heavy Industries, India, has announced the launch of new electric vehicle public charging stations (EV PCS) under the FAME-II scheme. Out of the 9,332 chargers sanctioned, 6,645 are now operational as of March 2026. The Ministry of Power has set guidelines for the installation and operation of these charging infrastructures to ensure standards and interoperability. This initiative aims to bolster electric vehicle adoption across various Indian states, with entities like CESL, REIL, and KSEB contributing to the network.
