Legal Aid and Awareness Initiatives by NALSA

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has been actively providing free legal services to underprivileged sections of society since its establishment under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. In the last three years, over 44 lakh individuals have benefited from legal aid and advice. Additionally, Lok Adalats have settled millions of cases, and legal awareness programs have reached nearly 15 crore people. The Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS) has also been implemented to assist in criminal cases, with LADC offices operational in 662 districts as of June 2025.
