Legislation for Management of Public Library System

The Ministry of Culture has reported that library legislation has been enacted in 19 States/Union Territories in India, as per the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution. The Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) provides financial assistance for public library development and supports the National Mission on Libraries (NML) Scheme, which includes setting up model libraries in each State/Union Territory. This information was shared by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in Lok Sabha.
