Linkage of FPOs with Industries

The Government of India has initiated several measures to enhance direct marketing of farmers' produce, reducing reliance on middlemen and increasing farmers' income. Key initiatives include the formation of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to enable collective bargaining, the establishment of the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) for transparent trading, and the facilitation of direct linkages between FPOs and industries through Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) and Buyer-Seller Meets (BSMs). Digital platforms like ONDC and GeM are also being utilized to improve market access. As of June 2025, over 9,000 FPOs have joined the ONDC platform, establishing significant connections with various industries for procurement and supply of agricultural products.
