Lt Gen Virendra Vats Takes Charge as DG of NCC

On October 1, 2025, Lt Gen Virendra Vats succeeded Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh as the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Under his leadership, the NCC aims to expand its cadet strength to 20 lakhs across 28 States and 8 Union Territories, aligning with the Viksit Bharat@2047 initiative. With 37 years of military experience, including significant roles in counter-insurgency and international missions, Lt Gen Vats is expected to enhance the NCC's focus on character building and patriotism while integrating modern skills and global awareness.
