Maiden Visit of EUNAVFOR Ships to India

The Spanish Navy's ESPS Reina Sofia and the Italian Navy's ITS Antonio Marceglia visited Mumbai from May 26 to June 1, 2025, marking the first EUNAVFOR visit to India. This visit follows discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and EU President Ursula von der Leyen, emphasizing their commitment to international peace. The ships engaged in Subject Matter Expert Exchanges and a Table Top Exercise, laying the groundwork for a planned joint exercise at sea aimed at enhancing interoperability and addressing non-traditional maritime threats in the Indian Ocean Region.
