Major Railway Projects Boost Connectivity in Himachal Pradesh

The Indian Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri new rail line at a cost of ₹6,753 crore, with funding predominantly from the central government. Meanwhile, the Bilaspur-Manali-Leh strategic rail line, declared a key defense project by the Ministry of Defence, is estimated at ₹1.31 lakh crore and includes extensive tunneling through the Himalayan terrain. Rail budget allocations for Himachal Pradesh are set to jump over 25 times compared to previous years, aiming to significantly enhance regional connectivity. However, project progress is hindered by delays in land acquisition and state government funding contributions.
